We are proud to share that Kacstone Record’s has successfully hosted the first-ever Local Language Promotion Forum on the Kasem language, marking a major step forward in our mission to preserve and elevate indigenous identity through music, media, and collective action.
Over two impactful days (April 23–24, 2026), the Navrongo Teachers Credit Union became a hub of culture, dialogue, and innovation, as hundreds of passionate stakeholders from Ghana and Burkina Faso came together with one shared purpose: to secure the future of the Kasem language.
Held under the theme, “The Sustainability and Promotion of Local Language in Social Discourse: The Role of Media and Music,” the forum created a dynamic platform for meaningful conversations on how Kasem can thrive in modern communication spaces.
From educators and traditional leaders to media practitioners, musicians, authors, and digital influencers, participants brought diverse perspectives and a unified commitment to action. Representatives from the Kassena-Nankana Municipal and West Assemblies, as well as the Ghana Education Service, played key roles in shaping the discussions.
Our Managing Director, Wenawome Aborah Duriyem, we reflected on the vision that sparked this movement, one shared with legendary music icon Michael Adangba. What began as a dream rooted in cultural pride has grown into a bold initiative to position Kasem on global platforms.
We firmly believe that music is not just entertainment it is a powerful vehicle for language preservation and cultural storytelling. Through Kacstone Record’s (Kassena Cornerstone Records – Kassena Dega Sapanga Biri), we are committed to ensuring that Kasem is heard, spoken, and recognized far beyond our borders.
Throughout the forum, participants engaged in thought-provoking presentations and discussions, including:
- The cultural and linguistic significance of Kasem
- Addressing misrepresentation and usage challenges
- The role of translation in language development
- Music as a strategic tool for promotion and preservation
Our lead Artiste Michael Adangba stressed the urgency of the mission, stating:
“Not only Kasem, but all local languages, we must make deliberate efforts to preserve them and ensure their proper use, particularly among those using music and the media to communicate.”
A key highlight was the strong call to action: local languages are under threat, and preserving them requires intentional effort especially from those who shape public discourse through media and music.
The forum concluded with a major milestone the formation of a dedicated working committee tasked with:
- Monitoring the use of Kasem in public communication
- Developing vocabulary for modern expressions
- Driving continuous advocacy and preservation efforts
As organizers, we are deeply encouraged by the passion, ideas, and commitment demonstrated by all participants. This is only the beginning.
Together, we are building a future where Kasem is not only preserved—but celebrated, digitized, and globally recognized.
